Rosewater Sprinkler

Location: Turkey

Materials: opaque, dusty and bubbly blue glass with some impurities, free-blown and tooled; gilt filigree mounts

Dimensions: 18 x 8cm

Accession Number: GLS 535

Other Notes:

The sprinkler has a long, gently tapering neck and a pyriform body that rests on a trailed-on foot. The underside retains a pontil mark. The bottle is set in gilt base-metal mounts, which form an armature around it. Some parts of the mount are of sheet metal decorated with wire filigree and pierced designs, while others – such as the interlace plaques on the body – are cast in openwork and attached to the rest of the mount by hinges.
