Location: Iran
Materials: bronze, cast, pierced, engraved and gilded
Dimensions: 3.5 x 8cm (buckle)
Accession Number: JLY 1461
Other Notes:
The decoration is eclectic: the buckle has palmettes, the oval plaque has a bracketed outline and bears chinoiserie phoenixes, and the sub-rectangular plaque has a symmetrical foliate design. The chinoiserie elements argue for a later 13th century date, when Iran was under Ilkhanid rule.
