The central panel on the front of the bag (right) is embroidered with surah al-Naml (XXVII), verse 30, while that on the back (left) has surah al-Nisa’ (IV), beginning of verse 58. Above, and reading from one side across to the other, is the commissioning inscription (amara bi-‘amal…) in the name of the Sultan Ahmad III and, below, the presentation inscription (jaddada…) in the name of his Grand Vizier, Muhammad Pasha, with the date 1137 AH (1724–5 AD).
