Title: Pilgrim Flask

Date: 19th century

Location: Turkey

Materials: probably zinc

Dimensions: 42cm (height, excluding chain); 34cm (diameter)

Accession Number: MTW 1754

Other Notes: The front and back of the flask are stamped with the words hajji … numero 283. A tag attached to the chain carries a similar stamp and a blue ceramic bead for protection against the evil eye. The flat back of the flask allowed it to fit comfortably against the flank of a camel or horse.
