Artwork Details

Title: Panel

Date: about 1910

Location: Japan

Materials: silk embroidery

Dimensions: 62 x 88 cm

Other Notes:

The treatment of the trees closely resembles an embroidered panel of hunting by Mount Fuji, thought to be a preparatory work for a tsuzure nishiki (hardwoven brocade), made in 1909 by Kawashima Jinbei II for the Karinoma room of the Alaska Detached palace. He exhibited embroideries with landscape scenes as early as 1893, was a prizewinner at the Paris Universal Exposition of 1900, and showed several embroideries at the Japan-British Exhibition in 1910.
