On Friday 17th May, Professor Sir Nasser David Khalili gave a speech at Wolfson College, University of Oxford. The conference entitled “From Sicily to Sumatra: Conference in Honour of Professor Jeremy Johns” honoured the contribution that the esteemed Professor of the Art and Archaeology of the Islamic Mediterranean made to the University of Oxford. Sir David spoke about The Khalili Research Centre (KRC), which is the University of Oxford’s centre for research into the art and material culture of the Islamic societies of the Middle East and of their non-Muslim members and neighbours of which Professor Johns was the first Director, since its inception in 2004.
