Title: Seat Cushion Cover (Stars in Eight-petalled Rosettes)
Date: first half of the 19th century
Location: Sweden, South-east Scania
Materials: interlocked tapestry
Dimensions: 59 x 74 cm
Accession Number: SW 7
Other Notes:
As with the tapestry illustrated in SW 90, the weaver has created a pattern that can be viewed in different ways: as four eight-petalled rosettes made up of hearts; or as large diamonds with eight-pointed star medallions at their points. Each of the hearts contains eight-pointed stars rather than simple star-crosses. The use of brown and the border pattern of hearts and hourglass indicate that this textile was made in south-east Scania.
