Title: Seat Cushion Covers (Rosette Medallion in Red)
Date: first half of the 19th century
Location: Sweden, South-east Scania, Albo district
Materials: part-piled on weft-faced plain weave
Dimensions: 53 x 48 cm
Accession Number: SW 23
Other Notes:
Most of the surviving examples of cushions in the part-pile or half-pile technique were made in south-west Scania, and have fairly complicated designs with many details. This pair of south-eastern Scanian seat cushions, in contrast, have a simple medallion with hearts, and appear to have been quite loosely woven.
